Optimizing Web Services Performance Using Cache
نویسندگان
چکیده
Due to the complex infrastructure of web applications (using application servers, web servers, database servers, etc.) response times perceived by clients can be significantly larger than they would like. The same can be applied to web services that have been implemented using the same web technology. On the other side, repeated invocations to the same ”readonly” web service with the same request data may often produce the same response from the provider, what can be considered a useless work. In the search for a performance improvement, we propose a cache-based extension to the architecture that can enhance current web services architecture.

An Adaptive Coherence Replacement Protocol for Web Proxy Cache System
As World Wide Web usage has grown dramatically in recent years, so has grown the recognition that Web caches (especially proxy caches) will have an important role in reducing server loads, client request latencies, and network traffic. In this paper, we propose an adaptive cache coherence-replacement scheme for web proxy cache systems that is based on several criteria about the system and appli...
متن کاملA Web Proxy Cache Coherency and Replacement Approach
We propose an adaptive cache coherence-replacement scheme for web proxy cache systems that is based on several criteria about the system and applications, with the objective of optimizing the distributed cache system performance. Our coherence-replacement scheme assigns a replacement priority value to each cache block according to a set of criteria to decide which block to remove. The goal is t...
متن کاملOptimizing the Web Cache Performance by Clustering based Pre-Fetching Technique using Modified ART1
Web caching is a technique which is used to reduce user perceived latency when user is accessing the Web pages. Web pre-fetching is a scheme where Web pages are pre-fetched into the intermediate server (proxy) cache before user accessing it. These two techniques can complement each other since the Web caching exploits the temporal locality, whereas Web pre-fetching utilizes the spatial locality...
متن کاملScaling Java-based Dynamic Web Services: A Second-Year Project Proposal
A popular new class of Web-based services generates dynamic content and does not bene t from traditional static content caching. To improve the performance of these dynamic services, we must develop techniques to make them more scalable, reliable, and available. My approach to achieving better performance is to design a service cache that replicates the code and underlying data used to create t...
متن کاملA Packet-Level Simulation Study of Optimal Web Proxy Cache Placement
The Web proxy cache placement problem is often formulated as a classical optimization problem: place N proxies within an internetwork so as to minimize the average user response time for retrieving Web objects. Approaches to this problem in the literature include graph theoretic approaches, combinatorial approaches, dynamic programming approaches, and vector quantization approaches. In this pap...
